Mental Health Center of Denver

Organization

The Mental Health Center of Denver is known nationally for its successful, groundbreaking approach to mental health treatment whereby people living with mental illness are involved in shaping their own recovery.

The Mental Health Center of Denver is the community’s leading source for comprehensive and accessible mental health and substance abuse treatment, housing, education and employment services for adults, children, teens and families.

Challenge

Mental Health Center of Denver’s four clinics were at capacity and clients were unable to access services and programs due to these constraints. Everyday, the staff was compelled to use work around's to accommodate the day's schedule.

Solution

City Projects completed a comprehensive feasibility assessment and recommended the acquisition of a building that would consolidate all four clinics with additional space for expansion.

When the Mental Health Center of Denver purchased a 90,000 Sq.Ft. building, City Projects then acted as the Owner's Representative for what would become the $14 million state-of-the-art Mental Health Recovery Center.

Outcome

The Recovery Center inspired an organizational transformation from expanded services, a marked increase in consumer visits, successful re-branding and expanded community awareness, as well as the launch of the Mental Health Center of Denver’s first capital campaign.
