SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH REAL ESTATE

Mile High Youth Corps

The Corps helps youth develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, the workforce and everyday life. The programs integrate real work experience on community projects with career exploration, education and life skills training.

challenge:
In 2008 the Corps purchased a building that would house their programs, offices, GED classes, computer learning center, job training and distribution operation that produces green energy kits for homes and businesses. The Board and Executive Staff recognized that they needed expert help to effectively plan for a total renovation, determine the financing and assemble the right project team.

solution:
City Projects was retained to oversee the renovation providing development advisory services, designing a financing plan, managing both the grant and loan application process and the project’s renovation. The planned interior and exterior overhaul is energizing the organization, and will produce a more functional layout, energy efficient building and strengthen the organization’s ability to engage and serve Denver’s youth.

"Cherie knew what to anticipate and shepherded our agency through the myriad of details and deadlines to make sure we stayed on track. Had I known what she'd bring to a project, her services would have been the first item on our renovation budget."

Kelly Causey, Ph.D. Executive Director, Mile High Youth Corps
